Calibration & Extrusion station for Automated Paint Robot Integration

Overview
As part of Dometic's transition to an automated painting process, I designed a calibration and paint extrusion station to support the integration of an industrial painting robot. The goal was to create a simple, reliable, and cost-effective solution that would improve the consistency of the painting process while reducing manual setup time. The station included a fixed calibration point that allowed the robot to accurately verify its position within its global coordinate system before each operation. I also designed a dedicated paint extrusion and purge station that enabled the robot to switch between primer and different paint colours without contaminating the spray system. From concept through manufacturing, I was responsible for the mechanical design of the station, creating detailed CAD models in SolidWorks, validating the structure with FEA, and producing the drawings required for fabrication. The final design became part of Dometic's automated paint line, improving repeatability, reducing downtime during colour changes, and supporting a more efficient production workflow.
